Two modified Land Rover Discovery from Switzerland showed up on the fifth day on 19th Sweden Offroad Tour at Bergunda-Växjö Tuesday July 8. Plus a German Chevrolet Blazer Army. So now we have people from 7 nations on SOT; Sweden, Denmark, Norway, England, Germany, Holland and Switzerland.
All ages are represented at SOT. Youngest is Elvira from Stockholm, 9 months, and oldes is "Captain Tiffy" from England, 81 years. And everyone is having fun!
Joakim Toth and Åse Tomassen from Jönköping showed up in their Jeep Wranger. They took part in SOT 1997, 17 years ago, and they drove all the way to Kiruna, Sweden's northern most town - in the same Jeep.
Bergunda is a former military offroad area. That means a large area, a myriad of trails and a fun free driving area. The free terrain is both easy for standard cars and demanding with steep slickrod for rebuilt vehicles.
Hi summer is here in Sweden since the start of DOT July 4. Another +28 degrees Celsius and sun but a fresh wind in Växjö.
Bergunda attracted almost 40 vehicles, a little less than expected. Maybe the weather is t o o good for offroading, maybe the beach attracts more in the heat, especially if you got wife and kids. But remember: at SOT there is a l w a y s a lake nearby for a refreshing swim, also at Bergunda.
Tomorrow Wednesday July 9 10 am we drive Ökna-Vetlanda. One of our largest civilian offroad area, from top of the hill down to the river. Lunch is for the first time served (by club Vetlanda ATV) at the gravel road near the dams in the middle of the forest. And there is a lake nearby.
