For the first time in our 19 year history we had a Chinese-American visitor on Sweden Offroad Tour. Business man Mr Ray, born in China but living in USA, visited SOT Ekeby-Stockholm to study Swedish offroading, to get ideas for China.
Ray got a fulfilled day in Ekeby. He sat in the passenger seat in the leader car, a especially equipped short Land Rover Defender soft top, for the two hour orienteering drive for new comers, he drove the Defender in the gravel pit, he got a drive in the land owners big Jeep, he talked to the editor in chief of Swedish 4 Wheel Drive magazine, he talked to the owner of TerrängCamp Ekeby who has half a dozen of Land Rovers for hire, he spoke to a member of Swedish Expedition Society, etcetera. He took a lot of photos and put on the Internet and immediately got positive response from Chinese people.
For the first time this year we had a lottery with Rindab/Warn stuff. One participant won the Warn strap worth 900 Swedish kronor (100 Euro). Others won Rindab T-shirt, piké shirt and mini flash light. We are also giving away new issues of Traktor Power.
Ekeby is our most varied offroad area. It has everything: forest trails, mud holes, mud hills, technical course, gravel pit and the fantastic slick rock granite mountain to climb.
The weather was perfect for offroading, just +20 degrees and sun.Ekeby was a perfect offroad day for Mr Ray and all the other participants on the 12th day of SOT.
Tomorrow Wednesday July 16 at 10 am we drive Ski slopes-Hofors, 200 kilometres north of Stockholm. We start at the long and wide ski slopes with breath taking views on the top, which also has a long forest trail. Hofors is known for their good lunch. And in the afternoon at 1 pm we drive to our partner club Gestrike Offroad's own offroad area at Böle industrial area south of Hofors. A varied day! And we have our Rindab/Warn lottery at the driver's meeting at 10 am. Be in time!
