Sweden Offroad Tour Skislopes-Hofors Wednesday July 16 offered a different day with driving on two completely different offroad areas.
We start with a 45 minutes long forest trails and then it is free driving in the skislopes. Steep, very steep, hysterical steep, you chose. Then it is time for lunch; grilled meat, potatoe sallad and bearnaise sauce plus cold drinks.
In the afternoon we drive in a caravan to our partner club Gestrike Offroad's own offroad area since 30 years: Böle, south of Hofors. Completely free driving in a dry and wet and muddy area with lots of exciting trails and mudholes.
Johan Gunnarsson from village Storå drove his seriously modified Nissan Terrano 2004 with snorkel, aggressive tires, etcetera. His young co-driver Ellionor Lindström did some good driving too. Women drive better than men - onroad and offroad. Johan took part in the first Sweden Offroad Tour 1995 (Then called Terrain Touring Sweden) at A9 military offroad area in Kristinehamn 19 years ago!
The local news paper Gefle Dagblad made a feature that will be published tomorrow Thursday and even filmed the meeting for their web-TV at http://www.gd.se . The female photographer wanted close photos on the vehicles in the mud - and was covered herself by mud!
We had a Rindab/Warn lottery and the female Swiss participant Sandra won the Warn tow strap worth 100 Euro.
Tomorrow Thursday July 17 at 10 am we will drive SOT Aspnäsbanan-Säter. The motor track Aspnäs has everything for free driving; forest, trial sections, two moto cross tracks and SOT:s only Laplandish swamp, called "myr" in Swedish. And at 2 pm we will drive a tourist trip to a 100 meter deep quarry filled with vitriol blue water for a c o o l swim.
