Gabriel Augustsson and Lovisa Björkman from Eskilstuna came to Sweden Offroad Tour Aspnäsbanan-Säter Thursday July 17. They drove their green Jeep Wrangler Unlimited 2010 and made their offroad debut in Säter.
Our partner Säters Motor Club hade three orienteering drives for new comers: light, medium and hard. Gabriel and Lovia of course chose the easy one starting with the new moto cross track and then the old more bumpy moto cross track.
After lunch it was time for the easy forest trail. The young couple enjoyed their offroad debut very much and are now joining their local offroad club in Eskilstuna, where we drove SOT last Sunday. Their Jeep got dirty - but no damage!
Aspnäsbanan (Aspnäs motor stadium) offers a varied area with completely free driving; forests, stony trails, mud holes, motocross tracks and the Laplandish swamp called "myr", the only one on the tour.
At 2 pm we took a short tourist trip to a nearby 100 metres deep quarry filled with vitriol blue and c o o l water to swim in. The water is like a blue eye in the 600 years old rustbrown mining area.
Over 1000 photos will be published on Photos after the tour. But already you can look at photos and film clips on the Internet. On http://www.youtube.com there are already films from Hästveda and Eskilstuna for example.
Professional motor photographer Niclas Alfredsson has photos from SOT Hofors and SOT Säter on his site http://www.motorpics.se
And of course local news paper Gefle Dagblad made an article and web-TV on SOT Hofors for their site http://www.gd.se
If you have put out photos/films on Internet please mail us and we will link: firstname.lastname@example.org
Tomorrow Friday July 18 at 10 am we drive Sweden Offroad Tour Brändåsen-Kumla. A varied area with open fields, forest trails, mud holes, mud piles, technical course and mud race track. Rindab/Warn lottery at driver's meeting at 10 am.
Next year 2015 we drive the 20th anniversary of Sweden Offroad Tour. We are thinking of starting the tour one week later than now, so school kids in Europe can finish school first and the family have time to go on SOT. What do you think? Mail us!
