Over 60 cars (ATVs not allowed) showed up at the start Friday July 10 at 20th Sweden Offroad Tour 10-16 July 2015 at SOT Hovdala-Hässleholm!
That's double as many as last year! Why? Because Hovdala was a new area? Because SOT started a weeker later than normal to adjust to the continent? Because we are celebrating 20 years? Bacuse the weather is so cool for summer you can't do anything else fun? The "ketchup effect" after 20 years?
We don't know... With only 15 degrees Celsius, strong wind and rain in the morning we feared the worst. Instead we set a new record for a sneak SOT start!
It was ten years ago since we were allowed to drive SOT on Hovdala. The area was new, but used only for safari earlier. A relatively flat area with lots of muddy and slippery trails and free driving. The positive thing about the weather is that the ground is wet, prefect for offroading. Surpsrisinlyg there were no really hard parts, perfect for standard 4x4 cars.
We are co-opeating with Hässleholms Motorklubb and their offrroad man Anders Forsell, who has done a great job, and led a great safari tour at 2 pm.
German but Swedish Simone is on the tour once again with here trusty Suzuki SJ. She did the whole tour in 2010 and want to do it again, as en early 50 year present to herself!
Three generations of Swedish family Hallberg from county of Skåne showed upp again with their black Jeep Cherokees; son, father, grandfather. It's nice when all generations can have offroad fun together.
A group of five cars came from Holland. They will participate in the Southern part of the tour. There were also cars from Denmark (10), Norway (3) and Germany (3).
Tomorrow Saturday July 11 we drive SOT Sågbacken-Hästveda, just 17 kilometres north of Häslleholm. Nowadays a large and varied offroad area. Superb lunch is served; gulash soup with crème fraiche and "knäckebröd" andcheese.
As it is Saturday and weekend there can be MORE cars than today Friday!
