Over 40 vehicles took part in SOT Motor Stadium-Nyköping. It could have been many more if it was not raining during the night and morning. Rain scares people away, especially ATVs. But after a few hours it was all sunshine and 20 degrees Celsius again - almost summer!
Nyköpings huge Motor Stadium offers three driving areas; 1) The forest and mountain with free driving. 2) The 1.7 kilometres long and winding motocross track. 3) The mud race track!
For next year we will expand the forest area and also try to get a long trail around the whole stadium area.
Robin Wennerberg from Nyköping shocked us all by arriving in an original Willys-Overland Station Wagon 1951 - and he did drive tough offroad with it in the forest. Almost pity on such a fine and rare classic Willys, the world's first all steel station wagon. After SOT Robin will go to a meeting for vintage cars in Uppsala! What a contrast!
Ramio Borgman from outside Stockholm is one of the most trusty participants on SOT and joins every year, this time with his Jeep Wrangler Rubicon (There have been many Rubicons on SOT this year!). He will drive for the next five days.
We had a couple of old Volvo military cars in Nyköping. The first generation from the 1950s is the Volvo "Sow" (very rare on SOT) and the next generation from the 1960s is the Volvo "Puppy".
Nyköpings motor club served freshly grilled hamburgers and hot dogs on the veranda overlooking the parking area, loaded with vehicles. At the same time there was motorcycle time with moto cross, enduro and micro ATVs for children. Fun for everybody!
Unfortunately we only have XXL size left of our extremely popular 20 year anniversary blue/yellow T-shirt.
Tomorrow Sunday is a big day! SOT Gröndal-Eskilstuna offers the most popular offroad area - it is huge! The only place which can beat Karlshamn's 80 cars! Camping allowed on the offroad area.
