Over 30 vehicles turned up at Sweden Offroad Tour Aspnäsbanan-Säter. OK for a weekday and slightly better than last year.
On SOT you see ALL kinds of 4x4 vehicles (and sometimes 6x6). Two examples at the Aspnäs motor sport area:
One guy had built an off rod = offroad chassi with a hot rod body and a visible V8-motor. Awesome!
A club member drove an Audi(!), lifted a little bit and with offroad tires and lots of rocker panels underneath to protect the car.
Aspänsbanan offers a great variation of driving: free driving in the forest plus lots of trails and trial sections, two motor cross tracks, one old and one new, plus a mini track for children, and so our swamp, called "myr" in Swedish, the only one on the tour.
Tour leader Peter Öjerskog's favorite is the long and winding old moto cross track with a lot of slopes, curves, water, mud and occasional stone. Absolutely perfect for his standard Jeep Grand Cherokee 1995 with aggressive Cooper Discoverer STT tires!
At 2 PM we took the traditional tourist drive to the old abandoned mining area Östra Silvberget to look at the 100 meter deep mine filled with iceblue water, and take a swim for the brave ones because the water in the mine is VERY COLD!
The tour leader leading the way into the water as usual, but there were more participants taking the chance for a refreshing dip. By chance the weather was OK: sun and 20 degrees Celsius.
Tomorrow Saturday July 25 10 AM is the second last day on 20 year celebrating Sweden Offroad Tour 2015. We drive SOT Brändåsen-Kumla. A classic offrod area with forest trails, open fields, techical obstacles and a mud race track.
Because it's Saturday (weekend) and in the center of populational Sweden we expect a lot of vehicles. And WE WILL SET A NEW PARTICPANTS RECORD THIS ANNIVERSARY YEAR!
