Peter Öjerskog - producer of www.swedenoffroad.com
Name: Peter Öjerskog.
Profession: Freelance journalist with offroad as speciality. Producer
of www.swedenoffroad.com . Arranger of Sweden Offroad Tour. Offroad writer
for Swedish Wheels Magazine. Former editor-in-chief for 4 Wheel
Drive Magazine for 10 years.
Born: 22 September 1953 in Gothenburg.
Lives: In Karlskrona's grooviest two room apartment!
Club: Blekinge Offroaders and Karlskrona Automobile Club. Secretary
for Swedish Automobile Sports federation's Offroad-group.
Started offroading: Professional as editor-in-chief for 4 Wheel Drive
Magazine in 1986. Drove my first trial competition on a moped in 1968.
Drove a Husqvarna moto cross cycle in the 70's. Competed in motorcycle
trial with a Yamaha in the 80's.
Family: Single.
First offroad car: 4 Wheel Drives Project-Jeep -87.
4x4 cars during the years: Volvo 912 6x6 truck -57, Volvo TL 11 pickup
-57, Suzuki Samurai -88, Jeep Wrangler -97. Mitsubishi Pajero Wagon 1999.
Present 4x4 car:. Jeep Cherokee CRD 2003, equipped with Dunlop tires, Warn winch and Exide battery.
Dream vehicles: (For the moment) For the terrain: Jeep Wrangler Rubicon.. For the road: New Jeep Grand Cherokee. ATV: Polaris 6x6.
4x4 Pickup: Dodge Ram V10.
First offroad meeting: Ränneslättsträffen in Eksjö
in 1985. Very dusty and premier for Jeep Pulling.
First offroad competition: Arranged first trial competition at Stengrepenträffen
in Blekinge 1987 - which ended in complete fiasco! Built up the 4x4 trial
sport in Sweden from 1992.
Favorite meeting: Offroad day in Boden during Sweden offroad Tour.
Sweden's largest and best offroad area with a beautiful swimming lake.
Dream travel: To drive across USA in a Jeep and take part in all 30
something Jeep Jamborees. Runners up: To drive over the Scandinavian mountain
ridge, from Sweden to Norway and the Atlantic.
Dream terrain: Treeless mountains, sand, beaches, granite. Slippery
but not too deep mud. Perfect trails suitable for stock 4x4 cars. 20 cm
deep snow.
Favorite offroad sport: Trial. Because the driver means more than the
car, and the number of sections are endless. Runnes up: orienteering and
enduro. Took a bronze medal in the Swedish 4x4 Trial Championship 1998.
Best offroad memory: When 30 cars at midnight for the first time drove upp the treeless
mountain Vittjåkk outside Arvidsjaur during Sweden Offroad Tour 1995.
Runners up: Jeepers Jamboree in California 1994.
Worst stuck: When my heavy Volvo TL 11 pickup sank in Karlskronaās
old garbage dump. It took a Volvo 912 connected to a Volvo TL 12 - that
means 10x10 - to pull me up!
Worst mechanical disaster: When the Project-Jeep's left front wheel
bearing broke on a heavily trafficked road in Denmark in 1987. Whith out
any time to react the car went over in the meeting lane. Just that moment
there was a hole in the meeting vacation traffic, other wise I would have
collided and died.
Offroad on Internet: off-road.com + all I can find!
Motor magazines I read: Wheels, 4 Wheel Drive, Power, Nostalgia, Teknikens
Värld, auto motor & sport, Classic Motor, Bilsport, Open Road,
club magazines, and so on.
My offroad advantages: Has brougth out Swedish offroading on Internet,
both in Swedish and English. Because I am instructor at Terrain Touring
meetings I have been forced to learn offroad driving and winchning properly.
Constantly working to find new offroad areas and activities.
My offroad disadvantages: Niehter can or want to do mechanics.ological phenomena.
Future plans: To develop www.swedenoffroad.com , Sweden Offroad Tour
and Terrain Touring.
Motto: Don't say no to adventure!
Last word: Think if we may drive in the power line lanes and fire lanes
in the Swedish woods. It will both keep the vegetation down and let the
offroaders have somewhere to drive legaly!
