13.7 SOT Ludvika

24 4×4 cars (ATV not allowed) showed up at Tuesday’s SOT Björnhyttan-Ludvika. That is 25 % more than last year and a OK figure for a weekday and those sparsely populated areas of Sweden far in the inland. SOT want to reach these parts to. SOT Ludvika offers a myriad av rocky trails in a dense beautiful pinetree forest, typical of “northern” Sweden’s inland. Lunch was offered in the forest. For photos and more info see; facebook.com/swedenoffroad and #swedenoffroadtour . Tomorrow Wednesday we drive Aspänsbanan (Aspnäs motor track)-Säter. A very varied area with a lots of different terrain and absolutely free driving everywhere; forest, mudwholes, old and new motocross track, special motocross track for children – and our only “myr” on SOT, the very special swamp for “northern” Sweden. ATV, camping allowed. At 2 PM there will be our only voluntary “tourist tour” on SOT 2021. We drive to an 800 years old abandoned mine area 5 kilometres away. The biggest mine is 100 metres deep and filled with “vitriol” blue water, like a blue eye in the surrounding rustbrown stone piles. Take a cold and refreshing swim if you dare! If you have time: visit the small picturesque town of Säter, one of Sweden’s few old preserved wooden towns.
